February 2nd, 2010 - Update

We could not have hoped for a more perfect home for Shelo.

She has a totally fenced acre+ to romp and play on, two young children to love and protect and stay at home parents to provide her with all that a girl could ask for.

Shelo will be coming back for more training along with her new doggy mate (he doesn’t care for her yet) as soon as she recovers from her spay.

Shelo Arrives at Twin Cedar

Shelo is our first German Shepherd to be adopted through our new German Shepherd Rescue Program.

Shelo came to us from the Stockton city shelter where she had been picked up as a stray. Nobody claimed her and what a total "wild child" this dog is!

Shelo is about 18 months old and her coat is a beautiful cream color. As wild as she is, she seems to be very smart and willing to please her trainers. She enjoys coming out to practice her obedience and to play with the Twin Cedar pack.

Shelo loves her roommate Rodney. They play constantly and really are quite cute together. We rarely get pure white dogs in our program and this week we had two at the same time, it was great that they were best buds. Rodney was adopted on January 28th and poor Shelo really misses him.

We brought her into the house to test her with
our official cat tester kitties and Shelo past
with flying colors.

She gently sniffed the cats and when she got to personal she respected the hissing kitty and backed away. She made no effort to chase the cats. In one week Shelo has learned how to heel, auto sit and to stay in a sit. She has been introduced to down, down stay and to come.

It does not appear that Shelo has been in a house before. She was very intrigued by the TV, and her manners on the furniture need some work. She made no effort to potty in the house.

Shelo would do best in a home with a large fenced yard and a family to keep her company. She is not the type of dog that would do well being left alone for hours at a time.

So if you are a stay at home mom or dad and are looking for a great dog to baby sit the kids, Shelo just may be your girl.
