January 10th, 2010 - Update

Rodney is off to his new home just over the hill from Twin Cedar K9. He has acreage to play on and a very active owner to take care of him. Rodney will be living a very active lifestyle, camping, running and going to the lake. What a lucky boy!

And best yet, he gets to come back for group classes. See you on the weekends Rodney and promise not to eat the couch!

Heeeeers Rodney!!

Rodney arrived today from the Amador County Animal Shelter & Adoption Center. Rodney is a young, maybe 8 month old Dalmation mix that is just full of personality.

He was not doing well in the shelter environment. He was difficult for the volunteers to handle and was growling and barking at people when they came near his kennel. As soon as he arrived we put him in our largest kennel with Bonnie, one of our Second Chance alumni that is back visiting for awhile, and boy did have a blast.

He ran and ran and RAN, and then ran some more! I
guess we could have named him Forest Gump! After
having a day to settle in we started Rodney's obedience
and manners training. This little guy has to be one of the sweetest dogs we have had come through our program
in a long time.

He is quiet, affectionate, smart, and very willing to
learn. In a very short period of time he has learned
most of his basic obedience. He gets along well with
all of the ranch dogs and even passed our cat test with
TC and Buddy, our official testers.

Rodney's new roommate is Shelo, a young female German Shepherd. They sure are cute together, it is like they have known each other for their entire lives. They can even practice their obedience together and do quite well.

Look at their feet, heads and tails in the picture where they are heeling in brace. Not bad for 1 weeks worth of training!

Rodney would do well in just about any environment. A large fenced yard to keep him safe and a family to give him love and care is all this boy wants.
