Riley Arrives at Twin Cedar
Riley comes to us from the Amador County Animal Control & Adoption Center. He is a pure bred German Shepherd and is young adult maybe 1 1/2 to 2 years old.
Riley is a very sweet boy who has had a horrible start in his short life. He spent every hour of every day tied up on a chain until he was rescued by animal control. That is no life for any dog but when that is done to a high drive German Shepherd, they can develop some quirky behavior.
In Riley's case when he is left alone in his large 100' X 100' pen he is constantly running and searching the ground for something. It is hard to tell if he is using his eyes, nose or ears in his search. Our guess is he is looking for something. We have seen this behavior in dogs that have been teased with a laser pointer. Riley will do this behavior all day long!
Riley is a beautiful boy who gets along perfectly with all
of
the other dogs at Twin Cedar Ranch. He has been
going on our evening pack walks and he is incredibly obedient and playful with the other dogs on the walk.
He enjoys playing with tennis balls and running up and down the ditch playing
in the water. Riley is coming
along nicely with his obedience training and has
already mastered all of the basic commands.

We have taken him on a walk without the other dogs to see how he would do and he was perfect. We only see his obsessive behavior when he is left alone in his kennel. It is unknown if Riley will continue to do this behavior once he is in his own home and has a family to bond with. Riley has made no attempts to jump over or dig under our 6' fences and we think he is house broken.

Riley is not good with cats and would possibly try to harm cats so he should go to a home without kitty cats!
We really feel Riley needs a chance to have a forever home so if you think you want to give this wonderful boy that chance, please give us a call to set up an appointment to come out to meet him.
