Update: February 5, 2013
Margè & Brian made the decision that if a perfect home came along that they would consider re-homing their little girl. Well that day came along and Dee Dee is off to her forever home in Pioneer.
She will be the only dog and will be treated like the Princess that she thinks she is!!
Dee Dee will definitely be missed by everyone at the ranch.
February 4, 2012 - Update
Because of Dee Dee's health issues and ongoing medical care, we have decided to keep her right here with us at Twin Cedar Ranch.
She has fit into the pack beautifully and has become a great ranch dog. She enjoys her days outside running around with the gang, helping out with temperament tests with client dogs and has even joined a few of the group classes.
In the evenings she is in the house with the rest of the family and sleeps on her doggy bed on the floor next to Margè. She couldn't be a happier dog.
Because of her great temperament, we will be training Dee Dee up to become a therapy dog so she can bring smiles to more people at all of Amador Counties senior care & assisted living facilities.
We will keep you posted on how she does with her next surgery and her new career as a therapy dog!
Update: January 1, 2012
Thanks to everyone's generosity not only has Dee Dee's first surgery been paid for, we have raised enough money to pay for her second surgery as well.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Dee Dee is doing great since her surgery and she is already running with the pack and using her leg most of the time.
Her other hip still bothers her quite a bit so she still needs to take it easy until we get that one fixed.
We will continue to keep you posted on Dee Dee's progress and thanks again for everyone's support.
Update: December 7, 2011
Dee Dee had her first surgery on her right hip on November 28th and is doing fantastic! Her sprit is just amazing and is a true testament to her wonderful temperament. Dr Bob with Jackson Creek Vet said the surgery could not have gone any better.
Miss Dee Dee is already walking and putting some weight on her right leg! When she wants to cover some ground she will carry it up off the ground but when in the house or just hanging out at the training site with her buddies she is walking quite well on it.
In another week she will have no restrictions and will be able to join the pack walks, play in the water and work on muscling up her right leg.
We will keep you posted on how she progresses. Dee Dee has quite the fan club now!
Dee Dee post surgery and look how she is trimming down! Margè
Update: November 25th, 2011
Our beautiful girl Dee Dee has been loosing weight on our Twin Fast diet plan. But as she lost weight and was getting more exercise that she has ever had before, we noticed that she was starting to favor her rear legs.
Margè took her to see Dr Bob at Jackson Creek Vet for a consultation and received some very bad news! Dee Dee has very severe bi-lateral hip dysplasia. She was probably born with genetic hip dysplasia that has gone untreated for all of her life.
The pain this girl has to be in all the lime must be horrible, and because of this it is a true testament to her awesome temperament!! She never shows any type of bad attitude towards people or dogs. She has been going on daily pack walks and participating in group classes every weekend.
There are only two options for Dee Dee… euthanasia or surgery on both of her hips!!
Well… because she is such a special girl, Margè just couldn't make the decision to put her down. So a plea for financial help went out to all of Margè's friends and clients and boy did they come through! The money has already been raised for Dee Dee's first surgery which has been scheduled for Monday November 28th. We will keep you posted on how she does after the surgery and she will have her other hip done in six months.
If anyone would like to make a donation for Dee Dee's second surgery, those donations can go to Twin Cedar K9 at P.O. Box 1844, Jackson, Ca 95642

Dee Dee Arrives at Twin Cedar
Dee Dee is in our German Shepherd Rescue program. She is a beautiful 4 Year old Female German Shepherd. Her owner is moving to Alabama and he cannot take Dee Dee with him.
She is a very sweet girl that gets along with all of the other dogs here at Twin Cedar Ranch. At this time she does not have much obedience training but is coming along nicely.
Her previous owner states she is OK with cats but will chase them if they run, what good herding dog wouldn't? |
Dee Dee is good with children and could probably fit into just about any lifestyle.
|
Dee Dee has been put on the Twin Fast Diet Plan since she came to us carrying a few (a lot) extra pounds!!
If you would like to come out to meet this great girl, please give us a call or drop us an e-mail to set up an appointment.
