Update: July 10, 2009

What a lucky boy our Hooch is! His new family came all the way from Sanger (Fresno County) to meet and then adopt him. He was a little shy with the kids in the beginning but as you can see, he is one happy camper now.

He has a great report card from his new family, he gets straight A's! We will miss this goofy little/big man very much.

Here is what his new mom has to say…

I thought Hooch did a good job saying "Cheese" for the camera! :)
He is doing really great, and getting more confident every day. Our home is on a fenced acre, and I am a stay at home mom of three home schooled kids, so this pooch gets lots of attention. He is so sweet. My four year old regularly says "Mom, Hooch is the best dog in the WORLD!" and we couldn't agree more. Thanks for everything, Karen

Hooch Arrives at Twin Cedar

Hi, My name is Hooch and I hail from the wonderful people at the Amador County Animal Control and Adoption Center.

Auntie Marge` thinks I am a Corgadore Retriever.  That would be a Corgi/Lab cross.  Sounds a little goofy…. but then again…. I look a little goofy!

When I am in the down position I look just like a Lab but when I stand up that is when the Corgi in me takes over.  Auntie Marge` calls me vertically challenged!  I hear people pay big $$$$$ for designer dogs and that is what I think I am, a designer dog!

Hooch will be 2 years old in September and he truly is a great little dog.  He has personality plus and is a very obedient little guy.

Actually he is not that little, he weighs 39 pounds but does think he could be a lap dog. He gets along well with all of our dogs here at the ranch and we hear he is good with cats as well.

He is housebroken and does not appear to have any bad habits such as digging or destructive chewing.  He is good with children and loves to go for rides in the car.

Hooch came to us from Amador County Animal Control because he was growling at people when they came near his kennel.

When we evaluated him for the Second Chance Program we felt that the growling behavior was due to fear and that the shelter environment was not good for him.

As soon he arrived at the ranch, this behavior went away.  He loves to greet everyone who comes to see him.

Hooch loves to come out and practice his obedience training.  In two short weeks he has learned how to do a perfect focused heel, auto sit, down from the side and front, to stay in a sit or down, come when called to a frontal sit, finish right and left, and an in motion sit.

If Hooch were a purebred dog he could easily compete in Rally Obedience or even AKC traditional obedience.

Our boy Hoochie Poochie has won everyone's hearts out here at the ranch and we want him to have a very special home.  If you think you are that person or family, please give us a call to come out and meet our boy.
