Poncho

Our big goofy boy Poncho is off to his new home in Glenco

He has a great family and a new buddy to play with. He will be living on a 45 acre farm that is surrounded by BLM land so he will have plenty of room to get all the exercise that he will ever need.

Poncho has been a real pleasure to have here at the ranch. He is such an affectionate and playful dog, we cannot believe anyone would surrender him to the shelter.

Poncho will definitely be missed by everyone who has worked with him. Good luck buddy and we hear you may be coming back for some group classes on the weekends.

Pancho Arrives at Twin Cedar

Our big goofy boy Poncho hails from the kind folks at the Amador County Animal Control and Adoption Center. Poncho is 15 months old and is a Chocolate Lab/Hound cross that may have a little something else mixed in as well.

His temperament is that of a Lab/Hound but every once in awhile we see a little Shar-Pei in his head and muzzle. Poncho was surrendered to the shelter by his previous owners because he kept jumping over their 4 foot fence.

As soon as he arrived here at the ranch he jumped over our 6 foot fence as well. It only took one lesson to teach him that fences are not to be jumped! We have had him in four different kennels and he has made no attempt to jump out of any of them.

It is too bad that some dog owners are not willing to try to train through their dogs’ behavior problems. I guess it is easier to just dump them at the shelter and give them an unknown future! Poncho is a great dog! He is sweet, mellow, smart, willing, and a bit of a goof ball. He gets along well with all of the Twin Cedar Crew and just loves his roommate Bessie.

When Poncho and Bessie are not out training, they pal around together in their huge dog run playing a good game of chase or just lounging around under a shady tree. Bessie is not much of a water dog but Poncho likes to play in his swimming pool when the weather gets warm.

Depending on the day and time or whether we are training the Lab or the Hound in Poncho, he is either very focused with his obedience or he is a lazy ‘ol hound dog!

With only a few hours of training he already knows how to heel, auto sit, down, stay and come. Of course, if we are working the “Hound Dog”, down is his favorite command. He is a very loving boy who would do well in just about any home.

Poncho worked well in his first group class this past weekend and he did a great job dealing with all of the distractions of the other dogs and people that were all around him.

Like Bessie, Poncho also is a very quiet dog that very seldom barks.
