Our boy Jessie finally got lucky and went home today. He tried so hard during his stay with us. In the end he learned his lessons and including the really tough ones... no jumping and stop barking. Well, he is still working on the no barking. He enjoyed his time with us as much as we enjoyed him. It was especially heart warming to see him in the big pen with FlashBack running and playing. Poor Miss Flashback was banned from lab rescue because she was thought to be dog aggressive. But she just needed some training and a friend to show her how much fun it is to play. And Jessie filled that role. Bye Jessie, enjoy your friend Simon and we hope you will keep coming back to group training class!

Here's a happy guy that came from the folks at the Amador County Animal Control shelter. He'd been there for awhile and since no one came to adopt him he was at the end of his short life. Poor Jessie just couldn't understand why no one wanted him. He tried everything he knew, Jumping wildly, running around his kennel and barking incessantly.  That has always worked in the past to get a visitor but now everyone just held their ears and went away.

So out to our Second Chance program he came. Jessie is about a year old and is a soon to be neutered male. He is a Boxer cross with a little Border Collie and maybe a little Pit Bull Terrier thrown in. He is very healthy and current on all vaccinations and heartworm preventitive.

Jessie is all about energy and enthusiasm. When you come into his kennel, whether the first time in the morning or after an hour's rest, he is ready to explode with happiness. All he wants to do is play and go for walks to explore. But, he is in school now and there are lessons to learn and manners to master.

Off we go. This is a typical start for Mr. Jessie. It does not matter where, as long as it is with you. He is learning not to pull on the leash while walking or going for a nice relaxing romp!

But he soon settles down. He is learning what it means to heel nicely by your side and to side and lie down when asked. Although obediece is not he favorite activity, he will work with you as long as you like. He loves his people, and since he out with you, that's good enough for him.

He is not the fastest learner we've ever had. But his heart is in the right place. There is not a mean bone in his young body. He just has to remember  that good manners such as no jumping or barking are what gets him the affection he so wants.

He would be very happy to have a home with kids and another dog to play with. Actually the more kids and dogs the better Jessie would like it!

If you are looking for a happy energetic guy, please consider Jessie. He happy go lucky nature would make be a great partner for another dog. And he'll romp all day with order children.
