Eli was adopted today by a wonderful couple who recently had to put down their white German Shepherd because of old age related problems.
Eli has a full fenced acre of manicured land to run and play on and he has a little Rat Terrier named Pixie to pal around with. Chris and Shirley will give Eli everything he will need in the future to keep him healthy and comfortable. Good luck Eli in your new home and PLEASE stay out of the Coi pond!!

My name is "Eli" for Eli Whitney the inventor of the cotton gin. The nice folks at Animal Control gave me that name because of my white coat, or I should say what coat I had left. You see, my story does not start out to well. When I was born I had a condition called Generalized Demodectic Mange which was left untreated by my owner. As the condition worsened I was in incredible agony. The itching sensation that I had due to the mange, I began to scratch and chew at my skin to try to relieve the itching. In the end, I was a bloody, itchy infected mess.
Eli is an 11 month old white German Shepherd that came to us from Amador County Animal Control and Adoption Center.
I had been this way for a very long time, probably most of my life. The person who surrendered me to the shelter said I had been dumped in his front yard, so no one knows who my original owner is and who let me go untreated and get into this condition.
When I was first dropped off at the shelter, I was in so much pain and would not let anyone get near me. They had to sedate me before they could get me to the vet for treatment.
I was given the royal treatment from all of the staff at the shelter and soon began to trust people again. Since I had no social skills "Auntie Marge`" from the Twin Cedar K-9 Second Chance program came and evaluated me. She said I would be a perfect candidate for her program. Once I was healthy enough to leave the shelter I was off to Twin Cedar Ranch.
My new home is incredible!! I have a huge yard that is about 100' X 100', my very own swimming pool, beautiful tree's and a roommate.
Auntie Marge` doesn't think I have ever had this much room to run and play on and be exposed to other dogs. I am learning how to play for the first time and I really like it. I have started my obedience training and just love to learn. Marge` says I'm a fast willing learner and I already know how to heel, sit and down.
*The home I'm looking for is a special one. Due to the Demodex Mange, I will probably need special medication on and off throughout my entire life. I think I am worth the effort that has been put into saving my life. I truly am a very special boy. If you think you would like me to be a part of your family please call Marge` at 209-223-3194 to set up an appointment to meet me here at Twin Cedar K-9.
