Update on Zena: July 31, 2005
- Zena has found her home! Through the extensive efforts of the
folks at the Calaveras Humane Society she finally is together with
her new family. She is a special girl that won our hearts. Thanks
CHS! And, good luck Zena, be good and fare well in your new home.
Hello
everyone! I'm Zena and I arrived Monday, 5/2/05. I'm still
settling in but so far it seems OK. The people are nice to me and
everything is really clean and nice looking. The food is good and my
kennel is big! I even have my own little house. I'm a trim
45 pound lady, my newest friend, Aunt Margè, says I'm a cross that
has Whippet, Beagle and maybe something else. She also says I'm spayed, I don't
know what all that means, but I do know that I like people and just
hope I do well in school so someone will like me too!
It's been a long journey to get here. On day I was lost and could
not find anyone or anyplace that I knew. I was really scared,
there were cars everywhere and no matter where I ran there was
another one coming! No one would help until finally a truck
stopped and picked me up and put me into a cage. It was small
and cold, but a least I felt safe and could finally lie down.
Then, we got to a big place with lots of cages and other dogs and
people. I was put me into another cage where I got
some food and water. I was really hungry! Some time went by and a
man and woman came and saw me. After some talking I went with
them. This was much better! No cage and I got to ride in the car!
I liked that and was careful to not get in trouble. Especially now,
no more cages! A crate, maybe... Anyway, we got to their house and
I was wondering what's next? I liked the lady a lot, but
sometimes I'm not sure about men. He was nice to me, but I wasn't
quite sure. Before, some men were mean to me and I don't know why
or what I ever did, but I'm real careful now. Anyway, after a
couple of weeks everything was great and I was really happy when
they can home after work or something. Everything was working out just great! I was
forgetting about the bad times in the past and looking forward to
our play times and car rides.
Well, something must have changed. One day we went for a car ride (my
favorite thing) and the next thing I knew I was at the cage place again!
Maybe we were
just visiting? No, because all of a sudden I'm back in a cold wire
cage with all the other guys barking at me and the cold concrete
and everything was bad, again. Sometimes a nice person would come
and I could go for a walk or play a little. But no matter how hard
I tried I always had to go back. This went on for a long time.
Some dogs got to go with people and some went to another room and
I didn't see them after that. Maybe somebody nice came
for them too?
Finally I went for another car ride, a long one this time and now
I'm here in school. They call it a second chance. Who knows what
that is, but so far I like it very much. All kinds of things are
going on and new stuff everyday. Its really fun and I'll
tell you more if you're still interested. They said to click
on the next page to see the rest. I hope that works!
