Feb. 10, 2005 - Off to his new family!

Well, that was way too fast! Mit was enthusiastic and threw himself into his training with happy anticipation. He just lived for long hikes in the hills, practicing for trailing and other exercises. He would work all day in obedience. All he wanted was his ball at the end of the session. Now he has a home where he will have all the attention. And that he deserves. Good luck Mit, be good in your new home and show them the energy and happy work ethic you've shown us. We'll miss you!

Jan. 31, 2006 - Mit Arrives!

Mit is a guy that we rarely find looking for a home. He is a very handsome German Shepherd Dog with a great attitude and in excellent health. He has all the makings to be anything from a wonderful and very loyal pet and buddy all the way to a serious working dog.

We first met him when the folks at the Calaveras Humane Society sent him out for an assessment and temperament test. We were very surprised! He has very strong ball or toy drive. Along with that, he is most attentive and willing, he wants to please and happily responds to praise. He loves to work and when rewarded with a ball and praise you can almost hear him say "It doesn't get any better than this!"

Mit is a recently neutered male, weighs around 80 lbs and is about 5 to 8 years old. He is very sound in hips and elbows, current on all vaccines and is heartworm negative. His coat is red and black in super condition.

Mit was surrendered to the shelter by his owner that just could not afford to keep him anymore. They said that they found him as a puppy in a paper bag discarded along the side of the road! Poor guy, but you would never guess his background when you meet him. He is just as full of energy, drive and let's-go-do-something attitude as he can be. Did we mention he likes to work? He has taken to training with gusto! Most dogs enjoy a session from fifteen minutes up to half an hour. But not Mit! As long as you are willing to go, you can count him in. Especially if you combine the training with lots of love and occasionally reward with his ball. Look at that tail, do you think he is enjoying learning to walk in the heel position?

Here he is showing off a little. He thinks is ready for the show ring with his best pose. Because of his looks, great conformation and condition we wish we could have seen his papers. But the most important thing is his great personality and temperament. He will be happiest in a home where he gets lots of walks and exercise. He would thrive if he had someone to throw a ball for him. He loves to run and fetch the ball for you, then drop it at your feet ready to go again. How about a Frisbee or a quick round of hide and seek with the kids?

What Margaret saw in Mit, was a super dog with a big heart and the attitude to match. He has not disappointed us and each day he strives to exceed our expectations. If you are interested in Mit, please email by clicking here or call Margaret at (209) 223-3194. Whether you are looking for a dog to take to obedience trials or shows, or just a loved family member, Mit would fit the bill. But you better hurry up, this weekend he starts in the group classes and we wouldn't be surprised to see him go home with someone from a class! Or maybe Margaret will let us keep him here at the ranch.
