Thursday, Jan 26, 2005 - At Last, Tess is Home!

It was indeed a happy moment this morning when Margaret returned and surprised us with a completed adoption form for Tess. It was made even better because Sue, the Calaveras volunteer that first brought Tess out, was here. She happened to be delivering a new Second Chance candidate when Margaret returned with the good news.

Tess has the distinction of being our longest resident. She also was one that made tremendous progress. From a bad reputation as a dog aggressive girl that likes to fence fight with her neighbors she progressed into a very obedience sweet little dog. And her diet worked in restoring her figure! Although she wasn't too happy about that.

So she is now in her new home with the great owners of the Jackson Cleaners. She has a buddy in their current dog, Zack, and even has their two sons to keep her busy.  While we say goodbye for now we look forward to seeing her during our field trips into town with client dogs. Be good Tess, you are one lucky little girl!

Nov 23, 2005

We just received our latest student, Tess. She is from the Calaveras Humane Society. When she arrived she was unsure and wondered what was happening to her. After a day of settling in, she started to come out of her shell. And what a sweet little dog she is! Tess is about two years old but a not-so-trim 50 to 55 pounds. She is very pretty, a Rottie/Collie and something-else mix. She is current on vaccinations, heartworm preventive and is spayed.

As she is getting to know everyone and the school routine she is letting her personality come out. Her first love is to play with her tennis ball. When we come to her kennel the first thing she does is run to get her ball and celebrate another learning and play session. But most of all she loves to sit and snuggle up. Nothing would make her happier that to be a lap dog!  In fact, that is her only dream, to be someone's dog and show how much love is crammed into her heart.

She is always up for a training session and learns quickly. Praise is her motivation and she will work hard for it. Heeling on a loose lead, sit and come are all no problem. She is learning down, this one is taking a little longer, but soon that also will be an easy deal for her.

Her work ethic comes from her breed lines and she enjoys doing her job. She knows when she nails a behavior and that just makes her want to to more. Some dogs get tired after 15 to 20 minutes of training, but Tess wants to keep going.

Especially if that involves walking. She loves walks and with her knowing how to heel the walks are a pleasure for everyone. Last Friday night we had a chance to go into town for a field trip with Tess. She loved all the people and attention she received. She was very well behaved and got along with the other dogs at the event.

In the past Tess has had some problems with other dogs. Although she gets along with the other dogs here at the ranch, she would be happiest in a home where she was the only dog. A warm rug to sleep on is all she needs.  And maybe a ball or two would make for a perfect life.

If you are considering a dog to join the family and are hoping for a very devoted and loving girl, then maybe Tess is the perfect choice. Call us at (209) 223-3194 or send an email to info@twincedark9.com if you would like to meet Ms. Tess. She has her ball and now she just needs her own home and family.

The Calaveras Humane Society Adoption Contract is available online to be completed and sent in if you would like to pre-qualify for Tess.
