October 11th, 2008 - Ushi goes home
Ushi found the most perfect home today. She will be the only dog living on five fenced acres and have her very own stay-at-home mom to keep her company. Ushi is one lucky girl and we will miss her out here at the ranch.
Be good Ushi and rumor has it, you will be coming back for group classed every Saturday. See you then....
September 19th, 2008 - Ushi Arrives
Ushi came to us from the Amador County Animal Control and Adoption Center. Ushi is a Australian Cattle Dog / Labrador Retriever cross. She is two years, four months old, spayed, current on all vaccines and on heartworm prevention.
Ushi is very much a Cattle Dog in personality, but the Lab in her loves water and playing ball! She was surrendered to the shelter because she was too much dog for her 94 year old owner. It was very apparent that Ushi was her own boss.
She has had several roommates at The Ranch and she is not dog aggressive but she will air snap at the other dog's face and legs.
|
As all Cattle Dogs do, she loves to herd and boss around all animals, dogs included. She came to our program because it was thought she was dog aggressive; however, we have found her to be just an obnoxious Cattle Dog!
|
We have not seen her fight but if she did this to the wrong dog, a fight might ensue. Because of this, Ushi would be best in a home without other dogs or a home with very tolerant dogs.
She is coming along nicely with her training; she already knows heel, auto sit when you stop, stay and is learning down and down stay.
On lead, she comes when called and sits politely in front of you. Off lead??????? We're still working on that one! |
If you are familiar with the Cattle Dog personality and want to welcome this sweet girl into your home, give us a call to set up an appointment to meet Ushi.
