Update: May 2nd, 2009
Hogan (aka Miles) has found the most perfect forever home.
Well we knew Hogan aka Miles was a great dog, and it didn't take him long to find a great home in Camanche outside of Ione.
He will have six fenced acres, three cats and two of the most wonderful people to love and care for him.
He will continue his obedience training here at Twin Cedar K-9 so we will be able to what him mature.
We received an update after the first few days on how he is doing and here is what his new owners had to say…..
Hi Margaret,
Thanks so much for helping us find Miles! It's hard to believe that this is a second chance dog.
In just the couple days we have had Miles he has proven to be far more then we could have hoped for. He has a perfect disposition for us and our cats. He has zero aggression and just oozes kindness and love. His heeling has improved for us dramatically and (usually) no sit command is required to leash, feed or have him wait for us to pass doors first. He is by far the best behaved dog on our block. He has had no "accidents" and after being alone in the house today for 6 hours did no damage whatsoever. He respects our eating time and lays down a distance away while we dine with a simple "down and wait" command. Most satisfying of all is that Miles seems to always very happy. He loves rooting around in our yard, taking long walks with us and playing with his toys.
I believe our good fortune is a direct result of an excellent dog and even more your kindness to rescue, train and place him with us.
Thanks again,
Greg, Denise and Miles

Hogan Arrives at Twin Cedar
Hogan comes to Twin Cedar K-9 from the Calaveras Humane Society. He has been in their care for the past 4 months and nobody has been interested in adopting him.
Of course, as with most of our Second Chance dogs, Hogan is a pretty obnoxious boy. He looks like a Beagle on steroids!
Our guess is he probably has either American Bulldog for Pitbull Terrier to go along with the Beagle. His temperament is very much like a Beagle but not as hard headed.
His name was Shamus when he came to us but it didn't take us long to change it to Hogan, as in "Hulk Hogan".
"Arnold Schwartzenpuppy" would also be appropriate to go along with his looks. As you can see, he is a very muscular and handsome boy. We think he is about one year old and is a very healthy boy.
Hogan was pretty wild when he first arrived for training and socialization, but it did not take him long to settle in and show off how smart and willing he is. As you can see, he already knows how to do a very pretty, focused heel and sit stay. He comes when called and is very good with all of the other dogs at the ranch.
We took him up to the house to check him with T.C. our test kitty for the dogs and Hogan was very good with her. He made no attempts to chase her and even gave her a very gentle doggy kiss (T.C. says yuck!!) right on her face.

His manners in the house were very good. He didn't climb on the furniture and sat very politely while we ate our lunch.
Hogan is very good with all of our dogs and cats and just loves everyone that he meets. As with all of our Second Chance children, we are looking for a home with a fenced yard and where Hogan will be a part of a family.
