After we
finished our field trip around downtown
Jackson and a quick dip in the fountain we loaded up into the
cars. But something was different, everyone seemed too excited to
just be going home, so I wondered what was up? Well, we took off
down the road and the next thing I know is that I'm getting a
familiar scent. What?! It's the shelter where I came from a couple
of weeks ago!
We piled out of the car and headed in. Needless to say, I was on
my most very best behavior because I sure didn't want to be left
here again. But the people were too happy for that so I figured it
was just a visit. Although I was very happy when I left I still
really wanted to see the nice people that took such good care of
me for the six months I was there.
The top picture is me with Pam. She took very good care of me
during my stay. But now I know that I didn't respond so nicely.
When she would come to see me, I would sit on my dog house and
launch on the gate and jump all over her. Plus, I was terrible and
would bite my collar and leash and even her pant legs! Well, it's
a different story now, as you can see. Just to show off we took a
walk so I could show Pam all that I've learned. I did my best heel
and auto-sit for her. Then we walked some more and had a great
visit. It was fun see my old friends again, they were so kind and
patient and kept me safe for six months. The least I could
do was to show that their instincts were right and I really am a
good dog!! I did my best and tried hard in school. And now in
about another week I'll have my very own new home. All thanks to
Pam and the good folks at the Amador Animal Shelter. And my second
chance!
*The Second Chance program is all about helping great dogs like
Bear. The Calaveras Humane Society and Amador Animal Control have
good dogs just waiting for a second chance. We take and give
them the training and socialization they need to start a new life.
