Sunday, Jan 22, 2006 - Pops Finds His Home!

Pops has bounced around quite a bit in his life. He was surrendered by his owner to the Amador shelter. Here he was found to he heartworm positive. He endured the treatment and was successfully cured. Then, after seeing his brother adopted, he was transferred to a shelter in Sacramento. Something happened there and he was returned with a bad rap sheet saying that he would attack and injury another dog. Poor Pops! He went from having his world turned upside down by being dumped into a shelter, then having painful heartworm treatment, dragged off to another shelter and then back to Amador only to be slated for euthanasia.

But good folks at the shelter still had hope so they sent to our Second Chance program. Well, not only was his rap sheet undeserved, but he showed us all how special he really was. Some training, love and kind treatment was all it took. And this lucky guy found a true friend in Becky (owner and trainer of Bailey the therapy dog)  who took him home for a much need bath and grooming. And Sunday, his going home day, she gave him a special grooming. He never looked better and is a very happy camper to have such a great new home! Goodbye Pops and be good in your new home!

Dec 12, 2005

Pops is a young 5 to 8 year old Spaniel/Border Collie cross that is currently in school and doing great! He is a neutered male just trying as hard as he can to find a home and family that will return the love he has to offer. After being treated for heartworms, he is back in action and showing what he has to offer.

Pops had a string of bad luck. He bounced between a couple of shelters before finding his way back to Amador Animal Control. But, he also had a rap sheet saying he was dog aggressive. He was on death row and close to the needle when the good folks at the shelter wanted to see about one last chance. They brought him out to Twin Cedar for an assessment. Margaret found that he was just afraid, not socialized and just didn’t know how to react. That was his lucky day! They agreed not to euthanize him, instead hold him for a little while hoping for a space in the Second Chance program.

Continuing his luck, that weekend Bodie was adopted which opened Pops’ space! As you can see, he loves training! Which is no surprise because that is what dogs are all about… being with people and wanting to please. All we have to do is show them how!

Pops is all about having fun and being with you. After a play break with his new buddy Bailey the Beagle, he’s back to his lessons. He is trying hard and is just waiting for the chance to show what he can do. If you are considering a new guy for the family, how about giving Pops a chance? He won’t disappoint you! He has his second chance and somehow he knows that there is the right person out there waiting for him!
