May 1st, 2010 - Update

Our shy little girl Amber is off to her new home in Sutter Creek and what a lucky girl she is. She was only with us for 10 days when her new family met her at the Amador Animal Shelter open house and they fell in love with her.

They felt they could help her with her issues and took her home from there. Amber will be coming back for group lessons on the weekends to continue her socialization and training.

Amber Arrives at Twin Cedar

Amber comes to us from the nice folks at the Amador County Animal Control and Adoption Center. She is about 1 year old and is a Australian Kelpie cross.

She is a very sweet little girl that is just terrified of life in general. On first meeting she is afraid of all people and other dogs. If given the time to get acquainted she does settle down and seems to enjoy human companionship.

We spent a lot of time just taking Amber on long walks to gain her confidence in us and it worked. Within a short period of time she was enjoying coming out and practicing her obedience lessons. She already knows how to heel, auto sit, down and come. She is getting along nicely with the other dogs as well.

Because of her shy temperament it would be best if Amber went to a quiet home where there is not a lot of people traffic.

We think in time, she will learn to trust all people and will not show the extreme fear that she has at this time.

She has learned to trust other dogs and appears to be good with cats.
